Triana

Founder & Director

When she's not dancing, Triana works as an Aerospace Engineer at NASA. She loves traveling and experiencing new cultures, having visited more than ten countries and counting. She also enjoys swimming and spending time in or around the water whenever she can, and is a proud dog mom to three puppies. At her core, Triana is a creator, problem-solver, and community builder. Whether through engineering, dance, film, or event planning, she is passionate about bringing ideas to life and helping others succeed. She founded the Huntsville Dance Community and Free Day of Dance out of a desire to create stronger connections within the local dance scene and expand opportunities for adults to learn, perform, collaborate, and grow. She believes that communities thrive when people come together to share their passions, support one another, and create something bigger than themselves.

Meera Revindran

Social Media/Graphics

Meera was born and raised in Doha, Qatar in a joint family and later moved to India. Growing up in a family of dancers, she built an attachment to dance, and dancing has always amazed her with its versatility and beauty. She has been dancing since the age of 3 and it has become a way of expressing herself. Deeply rooted in Indian Classical dance forms, Meera has been trained in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and Kathak. Driven by her insatiable curiosity for movement, she found herself indulging in other dancing styles like hip hop, belly dancing, contemporary, salsa, line dancing, and more. Meera is dedicated to pushing her artistic boundaries, celebrating cultural fusion, and sharing the universal language of dance with audiences worldwide. Outside the dance studio, she pursues a career in IT and owns a small business specializing in henna art and aromatherapy. After moving to Huntsville in 2024, Meera found a creative and talented community here and is excited to be part of it. She realized how many adults, who are passionate about dance, get overshadowed by responsibilities and the different roles they play. By being part of Huntsville Dance Community, she can be part of the team that brings all those performers into the spotlight and lets them shine.

Markayla Tanis

Markayla was born and raised in Birmingham, AL, and after spending several years as a Midwest resident, she transitioned to Huntsville to be closer to family. Her curiosity for dance has always shined through, beginning in childhood when she joined her middle school dance team and uncovered a love for hip hop. As an adult, she considers herself a lifelong dance student, learning from talented local instructors across several styles including contemporary, heels, ballroom, and jazz. No matter the type, she is energized by dance as an art form that uses the body and movement to tell a new story. Markayla joined the Huntsville Dance Community at its inception, volunteering to help plan the first Free Day of Dance event in 2024. She has an appreciation for the contributions that HDC has made in cultivating an environment where the love of dance can be fully lived out, no matter if you’re 22 or 82!

Abby Laverick

Co-Director & Vendor  Coordinator

At a very young age, Abby started dancing ballet, tap and jazz at her mother’s dance studio. She continued studying belly dancing and Latin ballroom styles. Moving to Huntsville four years ago has completely reawakened her passion due to the vibrant dance scene and the incredible community. After a long break, she has joyfully come back to the world of dance, and it has been the best decision she has made. She loves doing contact improv and especially Ecstatic dance. When Abby is not dancing, she enjoys art, music, activism, studying somatics, community events, and homeschooling her three kids.

Ingram Headshot.jpeg

Vivian Ingram

Promoter

Born on the Sagamihara Air Force Base in Tokyo, Japan, Vivian Ingram is born to travel, try new experiences, and do all things dance. Vivian toured all over the United States when she was a small child, and her family eventually settled in the Tampa Bay suburbs in Florida. She was the first in her family to attend college, and graduated from Hillsborough Community College and University of South Florida with honors. After graduation in 2021, she permanently moved to Hazel Green, Alabama with her family. Vivian’s passion towards dance started at a young age. She has been fascinated with multiple genres of dance, including ballet, ballroom, belly dance, and swing dancing. Before she came to Alabama, she would teach herself some of the dances and its history. Sometimes, she would perform for multiple festivals at her local community college. After settling in, Vivian built a strong foundation within the dance community. It started with swing dancing with the Sheepshead Entertainment organization, and it eventually landed with Huntsville Swing Society. She would volunteer her time helping the organization with promotion and check-in during events. A few years later, she helped Josephine Glass with her project in the Saturn Jive Dance Space where they would perform throughout Huntsville, teach various dance classes, and host special events. She made a home with Saturn Jive, and helps Josephine whenever she is able to, whether it's for performing or studio supervision. Vivian is a talent acquisition specialist for Banker’s Life full-time. She is always interested in trying new things and self-educating herself on new ideas and concepts. Whenever she isn’t dancing, she would read books, watch classic and horror films, go shopping, visit historic sites, and work out.

She started dancing as a child when her mother, Janice Sullivan, owned an afterschool dance program in Boston before moving to Alabama. Currently Maria dances Lindy Hop, Charleston, Contemporary, Jazz, Argentine Tango and Heels at Saturn Jive Dance Space! When not performing, Miss Sullivan spends her time with her family, friends, and the outdoors while working as a professional vocalist. Fun fact! She spends her time either in class or on stage in the local theater scene!

Sam Headshot.jpg

Sam in the Skye

Partner Coordinator

Sam has been performing in some capacity since childhood. However, pole came into her life while living in the middle east, and for the past 8 years she hasn't stopped. She's been competing in pole at the professional level for 4 years, performs/competes all over the US, taught in NYC for two years and has been blessed to have learned from some of the biggest in the business all over the US and world. Sam has lived all over, though most recently NYC and is originally from Phoenix. She moved here to Huntsville for her husband's job two years ago. While originally quite disappointed that there is not much of a pole community here like in other places she has lived, she's been very fortunate to find such a wonderful group of people in the Huntsville Dance Community and is happy to be helping out with this year's event and collaborating with so many great people. She's also excited to bring more pole to Huntsville! With a day job as a biomedical/cybersecurity engineer, pole gives her the chance to use the creative part of her brain while having the most fun workout she's ever had (for real, she has to have mandated rest days lol). She also is a cat mom who loves to travel and has been all over the world.

Dishman Headshot.jpg

Elena Dishman

Videography

Born and raised in Houma, Louisiana, Elena Dishman began dancing at 3 years old at her father’s studio, Gerald Dishman’s Academy of Dance. There she was a member of the competition dance team for 12 years during which she trained in various styles of dance such as tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, musical theater, and ballet. Elena moved to Huntsville in pursuit of her Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and in doing so took a 3 year break from dancing. However, she stumbled upon the Saturn Jive Dance Space in Lowe Mill and began taking Advanced Hip Hop classes on Fridays this past year. That is where she discovered the Free Day of Dance event. She was a member of Ctrl Alt Dance’s first season and is looking forward to staying an active member in seasons to come.

Rocket City Ballet is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) performing arts organization based in Huntsville, Alabama, with deep roots in the Bailey Cove community for more than two decades. Originally founded in 2006 as Alabama Youth Ballet Theatre by Wendy Graham, David Herriott, and Keren Gibb Hilliard, the organization was created with a clear purpose: to provide a supportive, safe, and inclusive environment for dancers of all ages, genders, and abilities. From the beginning, the organization has believed that excellence in dance training and accessibility in the arts should exist hand in hand. The heart of the organization has always centered on increasing accessibility to dance education and performance opportunities, including dedicated boys’ programs, adult classes, outreach initiatives, and welcoming pathways for dancers of diverse backgrounds and experience levels. As of July 1, 2026, Alabama Youth Ballet Theatre officially became Rocket City Ballet—a name chosen to better reflect the organization’s evolving mission, artistic identity, and vision for the future. While the name has changed, the foundation remains the same: exceptional training, meaningful performances, strong community values, and a deep commitment to artistic excellence.
